Materials:
- Sculpey Super
Flex in the following colors:
- White 7001:
Grape sized ball
- Black 7042:
1/8 block
- Red 7583:
pea sized ball
- Pattern for
Bookmark (project
has pdf file which will download in proper size)
- Scissors
- Drinking glass,
brayer or piece of pvc pipe for rolling clay
- Old Pyrex
or metal baking dish
- Wooden skewer
Directions:
- Knead to soften
all colors of clay. (Hint: start at the lightest colors and work
toward the darkest.)
- Take a tiny
piece of red clay and mix with a pea sized piece of white to make
pink.
- NOTE: Sculpey
Super Flex may need to be warmed under a light bulb if it is quite
firm. It contains a special ingredient that can crystallize in cold
weather. Warm and then soften small quantities by rolling vigorously
between the hands.
BE CAREFUL: It is very heat reactive
and can get sticky. If it becomes sticky, set aside or place in
refrigerator for a few minutes.
- Roll the black
and most of the white clay flat.
- Cut body and
leg patterns out. Press them firmly to the flattened black clay,
and use scissors to cut around the body and legs.
- Place the
legs under the body and press together.
- Use scissors
to cut two (2) long, white stripes.
-
Press
the stripes onto the black body as in the picture.
|
- Add white eyeballs
with black pupils. Place a small pink ball beneath the eyes for
the nose.
- Make little
round black ears with a pink center. Use the flat end of the skewer
to flatten the pink centers of the ears.
- Don't forget
to bend the end of Skinny's tail over and put a little piece of
white paper in the crease so he can hang from your book page.
- Bake Bookmark
Buddy for ½ hour at 265 degrees. Place him on white paper or
an index card which you put in the baking dish or cookie sheet.
Please get an adult to help you bake and remove your project
from the oven when done!
